Brian and the Nightmares have a Blog of their own?

What a wonderful idea. Why didn't someone think of this years ago? Why one day, I'll bet we can ALL be gasbags and have self congratulatory blogs of our own! One where we don't have to dis the blog community that supported us. It's a brave new world out there, sho nuff'

Well, I logged on here today to invite a bunch of people over to our ego-trip page. But seeing as how we've dissed the "blog community" (who might that BE, by the way?) I suppose I'll just have to eat cat-shit and vote republican.

The next thing you know, they will be charging people money to watch them "perform" on an elevated platform. And then they will start asking people to buy copies of said "performances" on tiny plastic things that somehow reproduce said performances in tiny boxes in our car and house. And then they will start traveling around the country charging other people money to watch them “perform” on other elevated platforms. What a bunch of pompous fucks. I can’t understand why people keep bugging them to have reunions all the time. They are old as shit too. And now a blog, have they no shame?!? All we need is a place for people to talk about more useless stuff.

Oh yea, don’t forget the Nightmares are playing the Down Home June 30 and July 1st.

It's just Rock & Roll 101 Chapter one of the text book; Not everyone is going to like what you do. So one guy said 'Boo. What does it matter in the 20 year scheme of things? Have some guy throw a ball peen hammer at you, or worse still, have someone throw a Styrofoam cup full of shit at you while you're playing - Now THERE'S something to get stressed and worked up over. And besides, with your unique status as a Nightmare, there will always be more people who will want to listen to what YOU say rather than me. That's just the nature of things in this instance. It's your world here. But tell you what - the next time I do a psych workup on someone or teach a class, you and the whole crowd can come by and say, "Dave, you're a gas bag and we don't like your work." There now, I feel much better already....

I really love the term gas bag. I don't think we use that word enough. I am going to start saying "gasbag"....and "fart face".

It is true that there will always be people who don't like our band. Hell, I think we were more critical of ourselves than most of our fans and detractors. But most people don't post on a blog ranting about people being gas bags about having a blog.

And you are correct, I've never had someone throw a hammer or cup of shit at be when I was playing. Perhaps they might be trying to tell you something.

But mostly, I just thought it was funny way for me to promote the show. Dave, always remember to spell our name correctly when hating on us. Thanks!

One more thing, don’t forget the Nightmares are playing the Down Home June 30 and July 1st. Tickets are on sale now. Call 423-929-9822 for more info.

In fairness John, you were in FC when we first played Italian Village/Club Venus/Pub out Back/redneckatorium,,, whatever the fuck it was called then, so you did have some shit thrown at you. Nice site btw, good to see photos of the olden days. But Dave is right, and righteous, as well. Not everybody liked everybody else, we ain't got to.
Glad you put up the link finally so folks can find it.

Peace yall.

Hey Bill,

I pretty sure it was Club Venus back then and I can't say I remember any shit thrown at me. I usually step to the side when the shit starts flying. It's what separates me from the animals. Or is it animal. I bet we sounded like shit though.

Now the Richard A's gig...

And I’m not saying that everyone likes us or the Dave doesn’t have the right to dislike us. Heck, most of my musician friends hated us. But they always wanted to be on the guest list. But righteous; I fail to see how disliking a band makes someone righteous. Maybe it’s a legal thing.

And, before I forget, the Nightmares are playing the Down Home June 30th and July 1st. Tickets are on sale now. Call 423-929-9822 for more info. Everyone’s invited, even the ones that didn’t like us.

didn't FC play the Rathskellar or The Cave before bert's place? isn't there robert footage of that?

I think Rathskeller was later.. as to shit being thrown at us at Bert/Burt's place, I remember an ashtray and a beer. Richard A's I remember lots of shit.

Dave ain't righteous because of his likes and dislikes, he is righteous because of his ethereal connection to the subtle nuances of the funk within us all...

The Burt/Bert show was the first without Frankie, that guy from the radio station sat in and we did almost all covers. Someone came up with the idea that it would make us be taken seriously. Why being taken seriously was a good thing I don't recall...but yeah, we probably sounded like shit. Really really loud shit, but shit none the less...

I would love to have footage of the ETSU show so as to make sure all copies are destroyed....

YES! there's a lobster in the video. or film. it might actually be film.

talked to john about this tonight and he agrees the cave thing happened before the pizza place. i knew it had to be b/c the cave was actually still called the rathskellar. it was changed to the cave the semester i started at etsu. the italian pizza place didn't become club venus until two years later.

and, oh -- the golden shower of hits.

My best memory of that show was the end, when folks at the library about 100 yards away, thru several feet of concrete, over a small valley and fallout shelter thick brick walls complained about the noise level and had us shut down. Yep, really really really loud shit..

Actually, I think the Cup O' Shit and the ball peen Hammer might be more of a commentary on one really messed up freak at Hammerjacks in Baltimore one night. Perhaps he just really had something against fretless Jazz basses. The hammer missed, the Cup O' Shit missed, but one of me amps took it right in the grill cloth. The fact remains that while that guy must have REALLY hated those basses, it stopped being a big deal by the time the song was over. And are you going to have your mom call my mom?

Pretty sure the Cave was well after Bert/Burt/Bart's... Ric played bass at the cave as he was the one that traded three colostomy bags for the lobster.

That last sentence makes perfect sense to about 10 people in the whole world, but trust me, it makes sense.
