i can't help but mention that dang scrap yard next to all the beautiful work the city has done with the pedestrian bridge and the riverfront. wouldn't you feel like a total bastard going to work there everyday...
everytime i pass that area i stare thoughtlessly at the giant piles of rusty metal. there's something sadly beautiful in it's changing nature. like what does the GreyLine Tour guide say... "to your right there's the Nashville Stadium, you might remember when it was Adelphia. we never quite understood what that was all about... oh and the Giant Trash Pile. There used to be a Giant Trash Fire. but it burned down. used to STINK. lord, it used to stink.

until one day, a progessive democrat became mayor. and he this crazy idea about people wanting to walk around the neighborhoods. and BIKE. no one ever biked in Nashville. what a nut. and he want to do that in the old ratty EAST nashville.

funny thing, it worked. ain't that a pretty bridge!

(truely one of my favorite sights in nashville!)

we're talking about this when john came home from work and he reminded me that his "thing" about the scrap yard is if the city can take people's family farms for emminent domain -- why can't they get rid of this? like, with emminent domain. i'd much rather have a family farm right there by the stadium. or at least a park or service industy... something where environmental waste wouldn't interfere. prolly not a good place for a water slide.

No, I fly over Cornelia Fort alot as we turn to land, but that tiny little runway there scares the rat shit out of me! I have been flying out of Nashvegas International this summer, which is no where near as busy as you would think. Sometime (probably next summer at the pace I am going) you and John will have to go up with me.

So, Bill, do I deduce that you are working on your pilot's license?

You may so deduce, or infer!

awww -- what a neat thing. why do so many guys our age get into flying? you'll never catch me doing that, tho. i have this thing about planes -- many more years of therapy needed. :)

Well some would say second childhood, some would say compensating,,, I figure it is because I wanted to for sometime and now have the cash to. Plus I want to be able to get to the beach without driving all day, and I want to see Ric and Marsha's kids whenever a long weekend comes around.

At least I don't think I am compensating.....

i wasn't going there -- more like -- funny how girls get weird about flying about the time men get into it.

also, something endearing and really swell about being all grown up and starting a new career and really "spreading your wings."

Lol, but of course,,, when I read the post from spookygrrl above, I thought to myself "there is only one girl that could legitimately claim to have been there when Final Curtain was born"

How have you been Jenny? I hope your father is well, I think of those times at ETSU with great fondness and want to look you guys up next time I get to JC

Nifty, Bill. Lots of pilots in my family, both brothers, one sister, a neighbor who was my brother's friend, my dad...really, about the only thing my dad ever did that evens his otherwise very shitty karma out was introduce a whole lot of people to the joy of flying. Sadly, I dropped out of ground school in high school because all that vector shit + algebra 2 = way too much math for me. But if our neighbor friend ever moves back from Indonesia, he makes noises about mentoring me through it some day. But now I also have that middle aged female thing Brook mentions about just feeling foogley around planes anymore, which is just WEIRD and inexplicable, because I even used to love all the inverted shit. So who knows. But that kicks ass, bro.
