...I was completely obsessed with Spock. I made my mother cut my hair like this. I also thought he was the same "Dr. Spock" that wrote the famous baby book (although what a Vulcan would know about raising American babies, or why the subject would be of interest was just not troubling enough to my brain to work it out at that time.) Although that didn't last long. I was happy to take his advice until I spied the picture on the book. Then I caused my mother no end of embarrasment in the doctor's office by loudly denouncing the real Dr. Benjamin as "an imposter and a fake." I love childhood; it's children I can't stand...
