Did not see the governor's speech but did read about it. Lots to deal with. Once you start talking over 50 or so dollars, it's not money you buy stuff with anymore; it's a confusing animal. As to the war, Jessica Lange was on Letterman last night and was awesome in expressing her views. She is SO cool. Her best comment was, "I don't recall any tenet in the Constitution that says that a quality of being American should be the desire to wage war. I'm tired of this attitude that supporting peace is somehow synonymous with being unpatriotic." (not exact words)
Lisa: your point was well expressed, in my opinion.

Well shiver me timbers! It's Flankie (Gag me with a Spangler) Spangler! What up there, Little Yoda?

Sounds Great Dave!!!! and by the way, for those that may be curious,,,, the gross national product of Sweeden, according to the CIA factbook (yes there is such a thing, and you can get to it online) is $219,000,000,000, where as the annual revenues generated by Wal-mart, according to the online edition of their annual report for 2002, is a mere $26,000,000,000, less than 1/7th the GNP of Sweeden!!!!!

Now Dave, about that Paganpalooza thing, could that be done in conjunction with a Hindu Rib Roast (Middle Tennessee Edition)?????

To relieve Dave's Dave's trepidations concerning the stories in johnson city stories:

To continue with the HRR stories, the last one I recall was when my girlfriend at the time got upset because ther were too many of my ex's on the dock( she was of the opinion that once you broke up, you shouldn't be friends, I guess). She decided to run away and I decided to stay. But anyway, scot hinson and I found a rowboat and decided to go out for a trek into the lake. He used to be a sea scout back in High School, so I trusted him even tho we were both so deep in cups that neither could see straight. We visited, partook and were subsequently released from several parties that were going on along the shore. I remember vaguely being physically being placed in our boat while asking if anyone had a dry cigarette. Surprisingly got one. Scot and I left the group of fun people who figured us out (4th party we hit, they were the only ones who disconered we didn't belong.....free beer and smokes from the rest). Suddenly, we found ourselves asea without our GPS....completely lost, in the middle of Boone Fucking Lake, in a rowboat, and with one dry cigarette. Starting to panic, scot decides that I need to learn how to be a sea scout too. Luckily I was saved from this odious task by one T. Cecil Coker. As Scot was teaching me the mechanics of rowing, Tony just popped out of the water on our starboard (aft, flank, hell....I don't know) side. We were miles from the camp, and Tony guided us back to our party. If T. Cecil is still posting, How the Fuck did you find us and what werer you doing swimming out that far?

Everyone: Johnson City Public Library is facing drastic cuts in funding this fiscal go-round. The library has been stagnate in funding for the past 3 or 4 years, so these cuts would have a profound negative impact on library services. Due to a state law called "maintenance of effort," the library would lose access to its online regional catalog system in the event of the cut. It seems the current mayor of Johnson City really has it out for the library. The Johnson City Press is conducting a poll right now about whether the library should sustain deep cuts: the more No votes that it gets the better, so please vote No if you get a chance.

by the way Brooke, does the Florida garage band have a name yet? Do they need suggestions?

I have come to the conclusion that during the 1980’s and 1990’s Quarterbacks was a focal point of UFO activity. Researchers report that one of the most common post abduction effects is that of lost time. During the 1980’s and 1990’s I personally went to Quarterbacks on what seems like 2 or 3 occasions, yet while I recall getting there at 6 or 7pm, I remember deciding that I should leave at 2 or 3am. I am at a loss to recall much of the time I was there, or why I decided to leave, if in fact I decided of my own accord to do so. After much meditation on this, I can only deduce that the lost time effect is in play, leading to my hypothisis of alien abduction. I wonder if anyone else has encountered this. If so, it would be helpful if you would post your recollections, or lack there of, here so that this can be fully explored.

down town JC has a blue plum fest this weekend .. do they play any blues ?? thats what we need to do take over the blue plum fest and call it the "plum blue fest"... with the beer tasting of course ..

Colin Powell advises that we should not make too much of the fact that we were led to war because Iraq supposedly had weapons of mass destruction and none can now be found,,,,, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain....

Will have to check out that book and the C-Span show.
Oh--more additions to recommended music for Brook's 15-year-old friend. This from one of my brothers, Ben---Santana's "Aabaraxia", and from another brother, Tim, the DVD of the Eagle's "When Hell Freezes Over". My oldest sibling, Sam, said "anything by Merle Haggard".
Scott Pleasant applied for a reporting job where I work, the Elizabethton Star---still a small family-owned newspaper, which are disappearing. The owner, Frank Robinson, who's 79, still comes in every day, and freely uses descriptive language such as "that SOB". He's deaf as a post and a "man's man". I enjoy it here. Beats the hell out of media general.

For those that have not heard, Al Franken has a new book due this fall titled something to the effect of: "Lies and the Lying Liars that tell them, a fair and even view of the Right". This Sunday on CSPAN-2 he is scheduled to go a few rounds with Bill O'Reilly. Should be fun!

yes you now have a file in DC with your name on it ....for un-navy thoughts

mebbe they gave her some bukkake videos?
...incidently, speaking of Nancy Reagan and the Navy, d'you think the Bush twins "welcome the fleet in" like Nancy Reagan did 50-60 years ago?
...do you think Homeland Security caught that last crack?
