Boone Lake Pontoon Boaters for Swift Kicks in the Ass

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!:

"Mr. Barnes (at the time, Speaker of the House in Texas) was contacted by Sid Adger (Houston oilman and friend of the elder Bush) and asked to recommend George W. Bush for a pilot position with the Air National Guard. Barnes called Gen. (James) Rose (Texas Air Guard commander) and did so,'' the statement said."

DEPENDS ON WHAT THE DEFINITION OF "THERE" IS:

George W. Bush: "They just had an opening for a pilot and I was there at the right time."

Will the REAL QUESTION please stand up:

"Matt Lauer: Did John Kerry serve heroically in Vietnam, in your opinion?

"President GEORGE W. BUSH: I think his service is heroic, yes. I think he's--and should be proud of it. And I think that we ought to move beyond the past. I mean, he's proud of his service, I'm proud of mine. And the real question is, who best to lead us forward."

FIRST KNOWN INSTANCE OF A DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL POLICY, TEXICAN STYLE:

"Barnes also said he met in September 1998 with Donald L. Evans, a longtime friend and chief fund-raiser for Governor Bush. Barnes told Evans about Adger's request, and ''Governor Bush wrote Barnes a note thanking him for his candor in acknowledging that Barnes received no call from any member of the Bush family."

guess who said this?

"Throughout the book of Judges, God calls the Israelites to go to war against the Midianites and Philistines. Why? Because these nations were trying to conquer Israel, and God's people were called to defend themselves.

President Bush declared war in Iraq to defend innocent people. This is a worthy pursuit. In fact, Proverbs 21:15 tells us: "It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity."

One of the primary purposes of the church is to stop the spread of evil, even at the cost of human lives. If we do not stop the spread of evil, many innocent lives will be lost and the kingdom of God suffers.

Finally, some reading this column will surely ask, "Doesn't the sixth commandment say, 'Thou shalt not kill?'"

Actually, no; it says: "Thou shalt not commit murder."

There is a difference between killing and murdering. In fact, many times God commanded capital punishment for those who break the law. "

A New Petition

The petition is simple. If Republicans and Nader plan to work together, if Republicans plan to gather signatures to help Nader, then we think its only fair that we concerned Democrats help Nader gather signatures to get speaking time for Nader at next week’s the Republican Convention. Any speaking time will do, of course.

war on intelligence

"But the question is who best to lead the country in the war on terror? Who can handle the responsibilities of the commander in chief? Who's got a clear vision of the risks that the country faces?"

-Aug 23, Geo Bush Crawford, Texas

only 69 shopping days to get an answer...

the media has completely ignored the "AnG'r Proof" 527c (Alabama National Guardsmen- Retired for Proof). I was only able to catch the following ad on the Pax Network after midnight, no less, during that Flabs to Abs sadist workout infomercial:

"Yeah," said Lt. Joe on the commercial, "I saw 3-star General George Bush in Alabama back then, I stood in line behind him at the ABC store off the highway down from the base. He bought a case of Vodka(said he had to sanitize his bayonet collection..?) and ALL of the damn pork rinds and beef jerky, I of course was there only to get change for a dollar so I could park my car legal-like in the city, umm, of course I don;t drink, being a good christian and all. Did I mention that John Kerry got his thirty-third purple heart for having an abortion? Hell, he'd do anything to get out of French IndoChina..."

"Amen, brother Joe," Continued Capt. Alousis Turdapple, "And another lie John Kerry tole, he weren;'t never in Vietnam, it was French, oui? oui! it was French Indo-china
back then. Can you believe, Kerry would fight a war for France? See, he can't seperate hisself from those pussy social-ite elitist frogs!"

i smell a rat

Tonight my dear, dapper Italian Greyhound, "Trouble" jumped up from a sound sleep on his couch and ran outside. Almost immediately I heard the squeals of a rat's last minute on this earth. Trouble's been after this rodent for weeks now. He's sniffed it in the monkey grass and cased it's lair. He hung back until the moment was right and with a few bloody cuts, emerged with his booty.

You have to imagine that in his little dog mind, that rat has been eating at his very soul. Every day taunting him with foraging runs and stinking up the backyard with his ratty smell. Only a dog would notice this smell, but to Trouble, tonight it was too much to bear, and his opportunity presented itself.

That ratty smell reminds me of the Swift Boat Vets for Truth story that is stinking up the airwaves today.

Hoping to bolster the standing of their blue blood draft dodger pResident, the SBVfT have fabricated quite a tall tale about Kerry's war record. Kerry, who volunteered for duty, and once in Vietnam insisted that he be put in the most dangerous of combat situations, then acted courageously to save a fellow soldier from being left Behind Enemy Lines. For this he was decorated and it is this hero's decoration the SBVfT are attacking.

One would think such an outrageous attack would be ripped apart by first year journalism students. It's a matter of public record. There's an abundance of eyewitnesses on Kerry's side. No such evidence graces the SBVfT story.

Most shittily (yes, shit-ill-lee) the corporate media is putting the onus on Kerry to prove HIS story. Not one media outlet (save for the Daily Show) has taken the SBVfT to task by simply asking THEY prove their side first. Over the weekend John Edwards challenged Bush to denounce the outrageous lies put out by the SBVfT, and how does the headline read on CNN??

*Bush urges Kerry to stop attack ads*

I shit you not, dear reader. A drunken, AWOL Junior Bush, who flunked a drug test for flight school gets the support of the military elite who meanwhile attack real war hero for their own political gain. Does it get any stinkier than this? Really, what's the point of all the "glory and valor" of war if this is the end result?

Meanwhile something REALLY interesting is going totally unreported:

Kerry is beating Bush in the polls. Yes, you read that right. Out of a dozen polls, and with the exception of Gallup, every one shows Kerry ahead, anywhere from 1 point to 8 points. Moreover, there's a number of Red States that are turning or have turned Blue, including: Missouri, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida and Ohio. Of these other solidly Red states -- Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado -- Kerry could win one or more.

The only way Republicans can win is to lie, cheat and steal. They stole the last election. They are lying their way thru the campaign and God knows, they are cheating every way possible from intimating elderly black voters to purging the voter rolls. And oh yeah, don't forget about the electronic voting machines (if it weren't for paper receipts in Venezuela, there might have been another coup). What's even more grotesque, is it's not enough to win fair and square. Kerry is going to have to win by LARGE margins to make up for all the votes that aren't going to get counted. Ain't democracy great?

Patrick Henry used the phrase, "I smell a rat," as an opener to explain why he would boycott the Constitutional Convention. This is not the year to sit out of the political process because of a ratty smell. I believe the more appropriate Patrick Henry-ism is "Give my liberty or give me death." Us sleeping dogs are getting fed up with the ratty foraging and leaving of ratty droppings. Sooner or later we are going to have to jump off the couch.

"if i only had a ding dong."

Well, Imagine That...

Bush heckler gets canned
CHARLESTON, W.VA. - Freedom of speech clearly has its costs, a West Virginia man has found.
The 35-year-old - who heckled President Bush at a political rally - was fired from his job at an advertising and design company for offending a client who provided tickets to the event.
"I'm mad less about losing the job - I'm more mad about the reasons," Glen Hiller, of Berkeley Springs, said yesterday. "All I did was show up and voice my opinion."
Hiller was ushered out of a high school Tuesday after shouting his disagreement with Bush's comments about the war in Iraq and the search for weapons of mass destruction. The crowd had easily drowned out Hiller with its chant: "Four more years."
When he showed up for work at Octavo Designs of Frederick, Md., the following morning, Hiller - a father of two - said he was told he had embarrassed a client - and was fired. The company did not return calls yesterday.

Friends don't let friends think republican,,

From the comments screen of georgemustgo.blogspot.com comes this gem of analysis on the idea of using Max Cleland in an ad for Kerry by the resident republican:

"Cleland would have been perfect. Poor old pitiful Max. That's it the sympathy vote will put us over the top! But he doesn't have a leg to stand on, does he? Let's see, Max's greatest moments: "I'm qualified to be a Senator because I stupidly mishandled a grenade on the way to get a beer." Or, "we should turn the homeland defense over to the government employee union." Yes, another fine specimen from the democrat gene pool."

That is why you should vote for Kerry. Make sure your friends know how some of those people think.

the real reason christianity equals dodo bird...

"BRIELLE, N.J. (AP) - An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a rare digestive disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman Catholic doctrine.

Now, Haley Waldman's mother is pushing the Diocese of Trenton and the Vatican to make an exception, saying the girl's condition should not exclude her from the sacrament, which commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. The mother believes a rice Communion wafer would suffice.

``It's just not a viable option. How does it corrupt the tradition of the Last Supper? It's just rice versus wheat,'' said Elizabeth Pelly-Waldman."

-the article goes on and on about rice versus wheat but never gives any data regarding how many priests were aroused (not from naps, but you know, in the sense of the big "know").

Another embarrassing Carter County story

O.K. It's getting ridiculous at this point. Another insane thing has happened in Carter County, and I must share it while in the midst of wild fits of laughter and tears. The Carter County Rescue Squad held a press conference today because the sheriff ordered the county commission to investigate a decision they made not to transport a decaying body in one of their vehicles. Some guy had been dead for 4 days, and the rescue squad didn't want to transport the body because they said it would contaminate the vehicle irreparably. SO - the sheriff and the county coroner hauled the body in a pick-up truck to the hospital for autopsy. It is not known if the body was even placed in a body bag. Rumor has it there was only a tarp thrown over the top of it.

The real clincher of the story, though, which has the family of the dead man frazzled, is that, on the way to the hospital with the body, the sheriff and the coroner stopped at a Texaco in Hampton for a cup of coffee, went inside and sat down.

Life in Carter County (continued)

Concerning my post of several days ago about the mock terrorist drill - the AP did pick it up, as did NPR. Someone also said he saw it on Fox News.

The weird thing about it was - some knew it was going to happen and others didn't. (what happened was - three armed men and one armed woman came into a county commission meeting and held everyone hostage. One person said there was a bomb in the building. They told people not to move. All of them had handguns (except one guy who had a cap gun).) It was to be an important meeting - a vote on a property tax increase. There was a fairly large audience. The sheriff knew the drill was going to happen, so when people who didn't know it was going to happen saw his "lack-o-reaction" to it, they became even more disturbed. The county mayor and all county commissioners had not been alerted. It was like a Harold Pinter play with Sam Shepard spread all over it. Later, we found out one of the guys (the one with the cap gun) is actually a convicted felon. Earnest Jackson, the EMA director who set the whole thing up, has been suspended with pay while the TBI actually investigates this thing. He honestly had no idea that what he was doing might not be kosher - so the whole thing is frought with innocence, making it all the more powerful. It's a novel waiting to be written.

The dead cat nativity scene which I mentioned in the previous post is also interesting. It happened several years ago. A biology teacher at Elizabethton HS decided to make a nativity scene around Christmas time using some of the cats the class dissected. "tis true. I'm telling you - "truth is stranger than fiction" doesn't even begin to touch this stuff. It's ignorance and innocence rising up out of the ashes to touch a constellation called genius. blah, blah blah.

Consumer Report: bad toilet paper

While cruising the booths at the state fair last weekend, I was given a free sample of this soon to be released toilet paper...

All I can say is, boy is it terrible. It's packaging is "Kitstch-y" which seems cool at first, because there are all these words typed all over, and each piece is numbered so you can sorta tell when you're getting toward the end. But when my son tried to use it to wipe his ass, he got shit all over his hand, and I noticed, the shit was coming FROM the toilet paper instead of his ass. strange, but we called our county's new hazmat service and everything worked out just fine.

A new republican amendment we can support!

Having failed to pass the Anti gay marriage amendment, and having not bothered with an anti abortion amendment (even thought they control both houses and the executive branch,,, strange they didn't try that) I suggest the republicans should now try to combine thier efforts and pass the Anti Gay Abortion Amendment. Under this proposal, gays could not seek an abortion, except in cases of rape or incest; Remember friends, gay abortion is a threat to traditional abortion in the country!

Damn, Rick James is dead. That is super freaky.

Has Bush Finally Spoke the Truth????

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we.They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

-"President" Bush, 8/5/04

So as I read it, the Bush regime never stops thinking of ways to harm our county. Ya know, that sorta makes sense of the last 4 years...

Also in the recent days, a group of Bush supporters showed up at a rally that Teresa Heinz-Kerry was speaking at and began chanting "Four more years, four more years." The future first lady began a chant that drowned them out of "Three more months, three more months" I like that.

Life in Carter County

Don't know how many of you have heard about the staged terrorist drill conducted during the Carter County Commission meeting last night. People were being held at gun point (one guy shot a cap gun "for effect"). Few people knew it was going to happen (including all of the important officials who should have known), and it was the most hilarious, disturbing thing to happen here since the dead cat nativity scene. It will be a miracle if the EMA director here doesn't get fired. There are no words to explain the event - someone needs to make an independent film is all I have to say.

Book Recommendation

I'm reading a cool book right now I thought I'd mention, titled "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," by Dave Eggers. Isn't that a cool, funny title? It was a Pulitzer prize finalist. Check it out.

Self explanatory (Highway 11E)

thanks Nicky!

All is well! Remain calm!

Bush Insists Economy Is on 'Rising Path'
By DEB RIECHMANN

"GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - The federal deficit is at a record high and economic growth has slowed, but President Bush is insisting on the campaign trail that the U.S. economy is on a ``rising path.'' In his weekly radio address Saturday, which he taped Friday while on a stop in Michigan, Bush worked to convince voters that the economic rebound is not stalling."
